I have installed vista on my PB coetmpur using and ACER recovery disk.The only problem it did not activate,(due to the product key being in use). However this might not be your case,Also it re-writes the system to thinking it it the coetmpur that the disk was made for, so my packard bell was calling itself and acer. (until you re-install the original OS back onto it)Its a gamble, the only reason I attempted it was because I had no recovery disk after my PB crashed upon bootup, so as a last resort, I tried the acer recovery disk, installed vista. Then downloaded a Genuine copy of XP to put back on the PB.All running as normal now.

Right click on an empty space on your desktop. Click on prtripoees in the box that opens.Then click on Desktop in the box that opens.You will find background settings on there or you can choose one of your own from your pictures or photos folders.(this is for windows xp)
